CREATED WITH FRAMESTORE NY
"Our space should feel open, airy, bright and contemporary...like a modern art gallery or museum. It will be vast, but not in any way intimidating, flooded with natural light creating patterns on the walls and the floor. We want to feel an immediate sense of optimism when we enter the space so natural light is very important here. It breathes life into the environment, giving it a warm and inviting feeling." - FRAMESTORE NY
I was tasked with the the problem of the unknown - what does this space look like? My initial work was to set a foundation of space by creating layers; much like a cake. Each layer was designed to work with the pieces underneath itself. Together, combined, they create a sense of depth while maintaining a feeling of openness. Natural light was the focus; rays of sunshine flood from overhead highlighting the atmospheric conditions within the space. Glass boxes were designed to be interacted with. People could touch them, move them, create a story with each box that was attached to another. While the final result would have each boxed filled with a scene from nature, my goal was to create a sense of touchability.
